Okay so I was staring at my bathroom the other day and honestly like why does it look like a sad hospital bathroom??? I mean seriously, cracked tiles, weird smell sometimes, cabinets that wobble when you even touch them… it’s tragic. I was like maybe I should finally do something and then I stumbled across bathrooms remodeling stuff online and oh boy… I got obsessed. Not gonna lie, scrolling through Pinterest and YouTube for hours kind of makes you feel alive but also a little broke just thinking about it lol.
So first thing I tried was just changing the faucet. Yeah really, just the faucet. I thought meh whatever, probably won’t make a difference… and then boom, somehow it looked cleaner, fresher, less sad. Then I got a new mirror, just one of those round ones with the little shelf, and I swear it made the room feel bigger?? Like my brain literally went “oh wow, okay this is nicer”. I think people get it wrong thinking remodeling has to be this huge nightmare, but tiny stuff can actually hit harder than a full gut renovation.
Color is tricky tho. I tried dark tiles once with a light sink and wood shelf, looked weird at first, I’m not gonna lie. I was like oh god did I ruin it??? but then after moving stuff around and adding a tiny rug it was okay… even kinda cute. People online make it look so easy, but like experimenting with weird combos is actually part of the fun. And honestly if it’s a little off, who cares, it’s not like anyone lives in a magazine spread.
Storage tho… haha, don’t even get me started. Toothpaste everywhere, towels on the floor, shampoo bottles pretending to be organized but really… nah. I tried those hanging baskets everyone posts about on TikTok, big mistake at first, it was chaos. But then I moved a few things around, and suddenly everything had a place, felt… nice, not gonna lie. I like not stepping on things at 6am anymore.
Also tried some eco stuff because apparently I care about the planet now. Low-flow faucet, new toilet, LED lights… weird flex but my water bill actually dropped, like I didn’t expect it to matter THAT much. Some friends noticed my new taps and were like “fancy” and I was like yes and saving money, duh.
And the little luxury stuff omg, you don’t need to spend a ton. Fluffy towels, scented candle, a soap dish that isn’t ugly… I even bought $10 prints for the wall and suddenly the bathroom looked like a boutique hotel. Little things make a huge difference, seriously.
Techy stuff is fun too. I got a motion sensor light and a heated mirror (yes, heated, don’t judge) and I added a Bluetooth speaker. First morning I played soft jazz while brushing teeth and honestly felt like I could conquer the day. Little things that feel fancy but aren’t extra expensive… they matter.
Finishing touches tho… rugs, towels, little soap bottles that match, maybe a tiny plant. I even put a small stool with magazines once and felt like a grown-up or something. It’s the small things that actually make a remodeled bathroom feel real and lived in, not like some sterile showroom.
Honestly, remodeling doesn’t have to be perfect or make sense to anyone else. Just do stuff that works for you, feels good, makes mornings less miserable. And if you need some inspo or want to see some real examples (and maybe laugh at other people’s chaos) check out bathroom remodeling. At the end of the day, your bathroom should feel like yours, messy bits and all.
